Inside Ilmatieteenlaitos Pallas UAS geographical zone, Finnish Meteorological Institute is exempted from the following (EU) 2019/947 open category requirements:
- Unmanned aircraft system (Article 4 point 1 a)
- Maximum take-off mass (Article 4 point 1 b)
- Conditions: UAV's maximum take-off mass 50 kg
- Distance to people (Article 4 point 1 c)
- Conditions: The launch and landing site of the UAV's shall be controlled in a way that no uninvolved persons will enter the area. UAS operations shall be conducted as far away from residential buildings, roads, pavements and other areas that include uninvolved persons.
- Visual line of sight (Article 4, point 1 d)
- Conditions: BVLOS operations are only allowed when temporary danger area is active.
- Maximum flying height (Article 4, point 1 e)
- Conditions: Flights above 120 m AGL are allowed only when temporary danger area is active.
- Carrying dangerous goods and dropping material (Article 4, point 1f)
- Conditions: The exemption only applies to the dropping of light weather probes. Dropping other items or carrying dangerous goods is prohibited.

- Conditions: Flights above 120 m AGL are only allowed when temporary danger area is active.

The exemptions in the UAS geographical zone apply only to UAS operations conducted by Finnish Meteorological Institute according to the conditions set in Traficom decision and it's enclosures.
